Apply for a Community Grant
Aurelia Metals recognises the important role we play in helping to grow vibrant communities.
Investments in our communities helps create social value by building capacity, leading to benefits such as improved social inclusion, increased skills, environmental preservation, stronger local businesses and economies, as well as positive health outcomes.
We are committed to sharing in the value of the resources we extract and encourage with our communities and encourage people to apply for a Community Grant.
Community Grants will be considered for any project/event that align with our community investment focus areas:
| Arts and Culture | Visual and performing arts organisations (ie. libraries, museums, cultural centres etc.). The purpose is to promote and support arts, culture, local traditional activities and knowledge. |
| Education | Local and regional schools and training organisations/initiatives that demonstrate a need for the community. |
| Environment | Responsible and objective environmental organisations, and organisations that conduct projects of local significance such as land care groups and wildlife habitat conservation. |
| Community | Local charitable organisations that give back to Cobar and its surrounding communities. The purpose is to promote and support community events and increase the involvement within. |
| Health and Sport | Local sporting individuals, groups or health institutes that demonstrate a need. |
Guiding principles for Community Grants
Every community grant application will also be assessed on the following guiding principles:
- Is the operation located within areas Aurelia operates?
- Does the organisation actively work to build capacity in the community?
What Aurelia won’t support
- Organisations and activities that are against the law, hazardous or dangerous.
- Initiatives that harm the environment.
- Organisations and activities that are not in line with Aurelia Values.
- Programs that do not benefit communities where Aurelia operates.
- Funding requests that create financial dependency on Aurelia.
- Commercial requests including funding for private or public companies.
- Funding requests from individuals (including those seeking support for academic studies, medical treatment or for sporting activity) or non-incorporated organisations.
- Funding requests related to hosting religious worship, or a political organisation advancing political causes, candidates, events, legislative lobbying or advocacy.
Tips for a successful community investment application
All applications need to go through an internal assessment and approval process. Please find below some tips for a successful application.
- Clear alignment with one Aurelia’s community investment focus areas.
- Include an activation plan and associated costs (if applicable).
- Provide images prior and post event for marketing purposes (as required).
- Ability to provide a Certificate of Currency for public liability insurance (where applicable)
Please be aware that while we receive many worthy applications for support, we have a limited budget available for this purpose and we are not able to satisfy all requests.
Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
