The Kadungle Project is situated approximately 55 km north-west of Parkes in central NSW covering 176 square kilometres within broad-acre freehold pastoral properties that are well serviced by regional road and rail infrastructure.
Recent exploration of the Kadungle Project has focussed on the Mt Leadley and Mt Leadley South prospects, which crop out as two low hills of mineralised volcanics separated by about 900m. The two prospect areas record significant gold mineralisation in soil and rock chip geochemistry. Aurelia Metals drilling results from 2006 and 2007 at Mt Leadley and Mt Leadley South include:
- KDD001 : 97m @ 0.63g/t Au
- KDD002 : 12m @ 7.73g/t Au and 0.12% Cu
- KDD006: 156m @ 0.15g/t Au & 0.1% Cu
The exploration target at Kadungle is large tonnage, porphyry related gold-copper ± molybdenum mineralisation.
In 2008 Aurelia Metals completed drilling programme of three deeper diamond holes (KDD011-13) at the Kadungle Project. These holes were designed to test porphyry copper-gold targets generated from geophysics and previous shallow drilling.
- Diamond hole KDD013 was drilled at the Mt Leadley prospect, and has intersected strongly mineralised volcanics and intrusive rocks from 35m to end of hole (EOH) at 693.9m. Mineralisation is typified by strong to very strong disseminated pyrite mineralisation from 3-20%. The pyrite mineralisation is variably overprinted by quartz-carbonate-chalcopyrite mineralisation particular about the margin of a monzodiorite intrusion at 561m. The hole terminated in strongly haematite altered and quartz-pyrite altered porphyritic intrusives. Hole KDD013 is considered to indicate the presence of a large, porphyry related copper-gold system.
Results include: 131m @ 0.13g/t Au and 0.11% Cu from 13m, and 6m @ 1.10% Cu from 560m
- Diamond hole KDD012 was drilled to a depth of 440.7m. The hole intersected a strongly sericite-pyrite altered, 75m wide volcanic breccia unit from 139 to 214m. The breccia unit is strongly mineralised with up to 10% pyrite. This mineralisation is interpreted to be related to that intersected in hole KDD013.
- Diamond hole KDD011 was drilled to a depth of 503.7m. The hole intersected strongly carbonate altered basaltic to andesitic volcanics hosting extensive low sulphidation epithermal alteration, veining and brecciation.
The observed mineralisation in the Kadungle drilling to date, and in particular hole KDD013, are extremely encouraging and indicate a large porphyry copper-gold mineralised system.
Elsewhere on the tenement haematlte + quartz veining occurs at Mount Leadley Trig, Nulgarra Hill and Fermoy with rock chip gold values to 2g/t Au.
